Join Us in Supporting a Healthy, Productive Forest!
At the bottom of this page, you'll find an application for membership in the Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association. The association offers a growing array of resources and services to small woodland owners in Nova Scotia:
• Try a useful tool developed by NSWOOA: An online assessment to help family forest owners identify and prioritize their goals for woodland ownership. The free tool is also an easy way for you to tell NSWOOA what information, services or other resources you need to achieve your goals. The association’s staff will follow up (at no cost) with every landowner who requests more information. Depending on how you respond, the short series of questions will take 5-15 minutes to complete. You’ll find the tool here.
• Our website is your first and best resource for information about the sustainable management of the Acadian Forest. Check out our Sustainable Forestry pages, which are constantly being improved!
• You can keep up-to-date on important forest-related news and events through NSWOOA’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/NSWOOA.
• Friends and family members can learn more about forest issues through our electronic newsletter, Legacy. Sign them up for a trial subscription here.
• Call our toll-free phone number, 1-855-NS-WOODS (1-855-679-6637), if you have questions about forestry in Nova Scotia.
• Otter Ponds Demonstration Forest in Mooseland is a place for all Nova Scotians to witness the complexity, beauty, and profitability that comes from uneven-aged management of native forest ecosystems. Visit otterponds.ca for more information about tours and programs at Otter Ponds.
• The Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association is founding partner in an effort to help landowners learn more about managing forestland. The Woodland Owner Mentorship Program will create opportunities for landowners to learn from each other, provide places for experienced woodlot owners to share their knowledge, and reinforce the information provided in the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources’ Woodlot Management Home Study Program through a series of field days throughout the province. If you’d like more information about the program, contact us at info.[email protected] or toll-free at 1-855-NS-WOODS.
NSWOOA takes its mission very seriously. That’s why we ask all prospective members to affirm their support before joining our association.
